Ruby is a very sweet, 6 year old Vizsla. Ruby was used as a breeding machine and just 10 weeks ago gave birth to 8 pups shorty after she was dumped at an over-crowded shelter. Dumped and left to die.
Ruby was spayed November 16th (just over two weeks after her pups were weaned). On November 17th while Ruby was recovering in foster care, she collapsed and was rushed back to the vet. Ruby will remain at the vet on IV as we await her blood panel results. Ruby's uterus was very enlarged from over-breeding. UPDATE: Ruby is still fighting for her life and if you can believe it...is wagging her tail in hope we can make her feel better which we have. Her prognosis is not good but Ruby wants to try. More details of the Lab results will be shared here soon. Ruby is NOT up for adoption at this time.
If you would like to help us with Ruby's medical care expenses, donations can be made here to our Paypal account or directly to our vet. For further details email us at crossourpaws@yahoo.ca.
Annie has been through everything under the sun. Annie was abandoned and when rescue found her it was obvious she was severely abused and neglected. She was total skin and bones. Annie's story will warm your heart. She is a true survivor. Her wonderful rescuer spent over $4,000 dollars to ensure Annie was cared for to the best of her ability. Annie survived parvo, distemper, kennel cough and much more. She is thriving now and is rather rambunctious and you would never know she was ill.
We are told Annie is a Pointer/Boxer mix and stands tall for her size. She just turned 9 months old and was recently spayed. Annie is now a healthy weight at 40 lbs and is still learning her house manners. She loves to be the center of attention every chance she gets. She is a love! Annie is in Utah and her rescuer needs our help in order to pay her vet bills. Annie is in an area where many dogs are used as "bait dogs" which are used to stimulate the fighting dogs. Unbelievable!...to say the least. If you are interested in learning more about this amazing dog and would like us to send you an application to adopt please email us at crossourpaws@yahoo.ca. We have transport to get Annie to Vancouver. If you would like to make a donation toward her vet bills please email us at crossourpaws@yahoo.ca or there is a link here to make a donation to our paypal account. 100% of the money will go directly toward Annie's vetting and care.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!

All of the funds (100%) will be used to provide medical care, training and rehabilitation for the dogs we rescue. Please help CROSS OUR PAWS RESCUE save More Amazing Dogs In Need.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
"You are his life, his love, his leader, the center of his universe. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion." Anon

I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter...the cast-offs of human society. I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness, and betrayal. And I was angry. "God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?" God was silent for a moment, and then He spoke softly, "I have done something," he replied. "I created you."
Have you ever thought about volunteer work? Do you love animals? Are your home part of the day? You could have the most rewarding job in the world! Cross Our Paws is always in need of committed foster homes. We pre-approve all applicants prior to a meet and greet to limit disruptions to our volunteers. Cross Our Paws will provide food, veterinary care (when approved by our vet) and all other necessities to keep our rescues happy and content. All our rescues are vetted, altered, vaccinated and temperament tested prior to placing them in foster care. Fostering a homeless dog can be very rewarding and if you decide you would like to adopt the dog you will have first consideration. For more information contact us at crossourpaws@yahoo.ca.
Cross Our Paws Rescue recently received some very sad and disturbing news. Our beloved RICKY passed away after ingesting some garbage fishing line off Ambleside beach where his new family frequently walked him off-leash. Ricky was rescued by Cross Our Paws in June of 2007 from a North Vancouver home along with another dog. The two dogs were living in less than adequate conditions. Ricky was in our foster care program for over 5 months and was dearly loved by all. Ricky was an amazing dog in every way and brought such joy to our rescue. We had difficulty posting the news and still can not believe he is gone. RIP our sweet, sweet boy. Ricky reminded us yet again why we rescue. He was only 18 months old.
Cross Our Paws would like to thank a group of caring individuals for holding a Beach Clean-up at Ambleside on April 27th in celebration of Earth Day. Cross Our Paws would like to host another clean-up in the fall of 08 in RICKYS' honor. Keep checking back here for more information and if you would like to be involved by volunteering please email us at crossourpaws@yahoo.ca
REMINDER: Please keep a close watch on your dog while off-leash to ensure safety of your companion at all times.
CROSS OUR PAWS RESCUE is a non-registered, not for profit "all dog breed" rescue organization. We are a small group of dedicated volunteers who love animals and have joined together to help rescue, provide medical care, rehabilitate and rehome abused, abandoned, homeless animals. Many times we rescue animals (primarily dogs) who have found themselves unwanted and lost in over-crowded shelters and facing death row.
All animals that come through CROSS OUR PAWS RESCUE are examined by our veternarians prior to placing them in temporary foster homes. Placing our animals in temporary foster care, allows CROSS OUR PAWS RESCUE time to assess each animal's individuals needs. It also allows the animal time to adapt to his/her new environment and receive any attention he/she requires such as training and socializing. With this CROSS OUR PAWS RESCUE is more able to re-home the animal ensuring the best match for both the animal and his/her human companion.
Cross Our Paws Rescue is working with our local animal shelters to help find wonderful homes for the many homeless animals in need. These poor dogs are living in concrete kennels, cold and lonely, waiting and waiting for someone to take them home and love them forever. Many of these dogs have been living the shelter life for months. Please DO NOT BUY a dog from a pet store or animal broker as the money you pay SUPPORTS puppy mills. The cute little puppies being sold at pet stores are most likely mill dogs. Don't turn a blind eye while homeless pets die! ADOPT FROM A SHELTER OR RESCUE GROUP!
CROSS OUR PAWS RESCUE is in need of monetary DONATIONS to help rescue animals in need of homes. If you would like to make a DONATION please click the PAYPAL donation button below. Without your generosity we would not be able to help as many animals as we do. Thank you so much!
CROSS OUR PAWS RESCUE is always in need of QUALITY kibble for our dogs and no-pull harnesses and collars. If you can make a donation of any of these items please let us know and we can pick it up. Our rescues say WOOF and thank you for your kind support!
It's important to consider the commitment and time that goes into caring for an animal. There are medical, food and training expenses etc. and more importantly your precious TIME. It's also important to consider the breed of dog you are applying for as well to ensure a great match for both. If you are not familiar with the breed research it on the net and consider it's traits before making your final decision.
TRAINING SCHOOL WINNER! ;- )
If only all our dogs were this well trained. To ensure you and your canine companion are happy and content and your dog knows what you expect of him/her enroll in obedience training as soon as possible (however, don't expect the above). Cross Our Paws Rescue has many wonderful canine trainers to recommend in your area.
Our Adoption Process...
All CROSS OUR PAWS adoptions begin with an application (must be 19 years old to apply) followed by a home visit IF we feel the application is a good match for the animal. All CROSS OUR PAWS rescues are cared for in foster homes and in order not to be too disruptive to our volunteers, we pre-approve all applicants prior to a meet and greet. We recommend several meet & greets prior to adoption to ensure a "perfect" match. CROSS OUR PAWS will limit adoptions of our "special needs" animals to the Vancouver Lower Mainland areas so we can assist with any issues that may arise. It is also a policy if you have a yard, it MUST be FULLY fenced. We do adopt to apartment/condo dwellers if strata permits and the dog is suitable to be in a multi-family complex living arrangement. As we are all volunteers we try to reply as quickly as possible to all enquiries but it may take up to 48 hours to do so. To follow the adoption status of our adoptable dogs please keep checking our Petfinder site for updates and new rescue posts.
CROSS OUR PAWS RESCUE requests an adoption donation for all our rescues as we could not rescue without it. Your donation will vary depending on the animals care and vet expenses (between $175 to $350). Your donation will help cover any vetting and care the animal may have required. If the donation exceeds the animal's vetting and transport, the remaining amount is applied to other dogs in need of rescue and care. CROSS OUR PAWS RESCUE is a non-profit organization and appreciates any and all help! THANK-YOU!!!

CROSS OUR PAWS RESCUE is run 100% by volunteers. We do not have a shelter facility to visit. All our rescues are immediately placed into loving foster homes and cared for in the home until suitable families/companions are found. If you are interested in becoming a foster parent please email us at crossourpaws@yahoo.ca for a foster application and information.
